Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Updates
Last updated: 05/01/2021
With the announcement of moving to stage 5, Polar Ice as a critical supplier to frontline industries will continue to remain open.
IMPORTANT: DPD Couriers handle our smaller volume deliveries and they are now experiencing a significant increase in the volume of parcels. As a result, delivery may be later in the evening and so we advise customers to schedule delivery for the day prior to planned use. It’s important to factor in the expected amount of dry ice sublimation when having dry ice delivered a day early.
Dry ice has a short shelf-life and sublimates (reverts from a solid to a gas) over time. As an approximate guide expect 18 – 25% loss per 24 hours in polybox storage cartons. Dry Ice should be used within 48 hours of delivery as sublimation rates increase relative to the airspace in the storage box.
- Restricted access to our main premises and depots for non-Polar Ice personnel. Customers collecting dry ice are asked to ring at least 30 minutes in advance and we will have the order ready for collection outside.
- Reduced the number of front-line staff on-site at any one time and facilitated remote working for all other staff.
- Put enhanced sanitising procedures in place on all work-surfaces and company vehicles.
We are continuing production and have implemented contingency plans to ensure minimal impact to our supply chain and our customers. We are monitoring events closely and we are acting accordingly based on the latest information available from public health officials. Our ultimate concern is the health of our employees and customers.
